About Us

Children attend the Forest Wood Assessment Centre between 4 and 7 years of age for full day. They either have a medical condition/disability or early social communication and interaction difficulties, where it is regarded that further multi professional assessment of the child’s needs will be necessary to determine their future educational placement. The focus of this educational setting is assessment, which provides accurate information about the child’s level of development, and physical needs to inform and facilitate future provision.

All children will have the opportunity to access the Foundation Stage and KS1 Curriculum through play, having fun and being supported by an experienced professional adult. The indoor and outdoor learning environments provide a wide range of activities where children can play alongside and with others in a safe way. There will be time during the day for individual and small group activities, with assessment linked to Individual Education Programmes. Inclusion with the attached mainstream school is encouraged.
